Final Piece Development

Day 1: To start I firstly drew out in Pencil my design on to A1 watercolour paper, carefully placing my characters in a dreamscape setting.

The whistle she’s holding is a vital part of the story….

The whole concept of this dreamscape is about showing all of the elements of the dreams I have been having, the Chinese Lantern trees, the Panther and the Rock Pool of Crystals.

Day 2 :

I decided to use watercolour as my medium because I love the fluid, delicate quality it has and it suits the dreamscape. I had a difficult choice of what colour hair for the girl, originally I wanted her to be blonde, but thought it wouldn’t  to give the girl red hair to represent her fiery character and to contrast with the dark background.

For the background I wanted to create a Luminous effect around my Chinese Lanterns so I sprinkled a little bit of salt and left it to dry over night.
